Meet Claire Gilmour
Head of Social
Claire has been a well known presence, advocate and supporter for the Sunshine Coast Autism community for many years.
Her undying dedication is driven by a very personal connection to Autism that began in 2012 when her son Cooper was diagnosed and a whole new life and reality set in. Lost in a world of appointments, therapy, wondering if Coop would ever talk, have friends, be invited to a birthday party or live an independent life, she decided to create The Autism Treehouse to help support him and other kids and families living with Autism.
Through her experience with The Autism Treehouse, Claire saw a growing need in the local community for those families living with ASD to have a permanent space where they can have fun and socialise, and the Social Studio was born.
With Claire’s background in child care, hospitality, skydiving and also living the (child-free) dream as an international Flight Attendant it’s safe to say that she is an adventurous and social sort, so it seems natural for her to start the Social Studio and bring a natural social environment to the wider community.
As Head of Social, Claire’s role entails creating fun and engaging groups, programs and social events, not only for the kids, teens and young adults, but parents and carers as well.
