“I have been attending the School Leaver Employment Services program at Social Studio for the past 6 months and I have found it to be a worthwhile and enjoyable experience. I feel that the program has developed my understanding of how to conduct myself professionally in the workplace. I have grown my knowledge in the areas of independent working, problem solving, flexible and adaptable thinking and other work and life skills. Through the SLES program, I have been able to find work experience in my desired field of office administration. I would recommend this program to other people who may be seeking a supportive environment to learn about future employment pathways and develop transferable workplace skills.”

The garden project is the most engaged and least stressed I've seen my son all year. He's come back happy with his achievements in the garden and actually wanting to talk about his day

September 2020

All three of my kids (well one is a young adult) have been involved with the Social Studio for the past few months, and I honestly couldnt be happier. My 12 year old daughter, who has ASD and extreme anxiety, has gone from being my shadow and not wanting to mix with others at all, to nagging me to go without me and happily joining in. That might seem minor but to us its huge, and it brings me tears of joy the changes in her already.

They are amazing, so much help and such a caring group . They have been my lifesaver in getting my Aspergers son back out there , especially after the COVID scare! He is 19 and hasn’t been social In the last 4 years, he is coming back saying he loved it and is so happy again!

What have they done so far ? You ask ? They have been socially helping him with a new group of friends as he has only had one friend for a few years now , cooking with him , teaching him new recipes and getting him to try new things, food wise. Helping him with his fitness, shopping, self esteem , and finances are on the to do list. His self confidence has risen and he is a different boy, sorry, man, lol and I could not praise them enough!!!! Thank you all, so much get your ASD kids back out there, all their help has been truely amazing!

I highly recommend joining up. One month here in a safe, non-judgemental environment has catapulted my sons social skills more than years of trying other options. My son begs me to go everyday which has never happened with other activities. Its also a place where us parents can relax knowing that we won’t be judged and there won’t be any sudden loud sounds/lights/smells etc to cause potential sensory overload. Claire and Karen have created something truly special and NDIS funding was approved for the membership without any issues.

Claire’s dream of creating a beautiful, safe, inviting and inclusive space for families has definitely been realised in the Social Studio. The range of activities and groups means that there is something for everyone and I love that not only are the kids well catered for, so are the parents and carers.

I've known Claire for many years and I've always been in awe of her enthusiasm and motivation for supporting all children's needs... There is a definite need for readily available services for children of differing abilities on the Sunshine Coast, and Claire seems to tap into these needs and provide the services and space that parents and children are so desperately wanting! I look forward to watching The Social Studio grow and, as always, I can't wait to volunteer and support Claire in whatever capacity is required.

November 2019

I’ve known Claire for around 7 years since our boys were at Kindy together. Claire saw a massive gap in social & community services on the Sunshine Coast for our boys & others with ASD. She has campaigned & advocated for all of our children allowing our kids to get out in the community & participate in different sports & social activities in a ‘safe’ place. Without this, many kids & their families are severely restricted in their activities, with the world still learning how to be ‘non judgemental’ to our normal

What Claire previously created for our community has made a real difference in our lives in so many ways. The Social Studio will certainly do the same.
