The Social Kitchen
About
The Social Kitchen is a community of food lovers and an exciting interactive cooking program for young people on the Autism Spectrum run by our resident fully qualified and experienced Chef Nam!
This 10 week program (9 weeks Term 1) will consist of one 3-hour session per week running during the school term on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday’s.
The Social Kitchen aims to incorporate an appreciation for healthy food, cooking and socialising, to achieve confidence and independence in the kitchen and beyond.
Participants will work with Chef Nam and Peer Mentors to plan, shop, prepare, cook, tidy and then most importantly enjoy their hard work with a shared meal.
Skills:
Grocery budgeting, shopping and pre-shop preparation (recipe reading and list writing)
Preparation of kitchen (safety & hygiene)
Food preparation
Cooking – e.g frying, steaming, boiling
Plating food and table setting
Post cook clean up
Understanding of healthy food choices

10 Week program including all food, qualified Chef and 2 x peer mentors. Max 6 participants per group
Monday - $800
Tuesday and Thursday - $1200
